Internal Tulips ‘Mislead Into A Field By A Deformed Deer’ (Planet Mu)
Little snippets of sounds, perhaps different sessions or vocals sprinkled throughout, minced electronics, and unsteady beats create an album that relies on natural aesthetics, You will get some waves of opulence when you least expect. Beach Boys influenced…., interesting!
Angus & Julia Stone ‘Down The Way’ (Nettwerk)
Brother & Sister duo released their 2nd album this week. Folky, sweet, delicate. Julia’s vocals on ‘For You’ are so moving when I first heard them, I felt like crying in my eggs… MY EGGS!
She has that child-like style like Hope Sandoval, so they have an overall Mazzy feel, and at times especially on ‘Big Jet Plane’, the sound goes back to early Coldplay.
Despite all that, it isn’t a downer and I’m not surprised they are signed to a major label already. I wouldn’t waste my text to talk about them, but I really really like this. Check out ‘Big Jet Plane’ in the player below, and the rest of the album.

Bitcrush ‘Of Embers’ (n5MD)
When I was growing up, my imagination would take me on these journeys crossing bleak landscapes, vast industrialized rooms or labyrinths. So from a young age I was tuned toward new age music that would accompany these travels… It was like movie score. Bitcrushs’ new ‘Of Embers’ takes you to the darkest of places. Frozen lakes, log cabins submerged in blood… uh, don’t call the authorities on me.
One For The Team ‘Ghosts’ (Afternoon)
I’m playing catch-up here with the new releases. Released on the 16th, One For The Team has confidence in their indie pop, playing off of common rock progression they can build up to complete originals.
A trick to song writing or writing music over all is, to get as much mileage as possible off of one theme by doing variations. This is quite apparent from listening to ‘Every Little Thing’ and ‘Hard For You’.
Keyboards mimic that indie-pop sound you’re sure to hear on some car commercial somewhere, which are complemented by Tegan & Sara like vocals on ‘I’ve Been Here So Long’, that makes it a strong single.
Yukon Blonde ‘Yukon Blonde’ (Bumstead)
There are these little twists and turns that blend melody to create these long lasting ear worms that you simply can’t ignore. I hate making the killers comparison, but it’s just that pop method that makes Yukon easy to digest. All that aside, it’s a good effort.

No time for reviews, gotta look for something that gives me a paycheck but all this shit is good.
Dimlite ‘Prismic Tops’ (Now Again)
Swiss born Dimitri Grimm creates a frantic sound that you can’t fully pin down, and that makes his style more unique. This guy dances to the beat of his own drum sure, but he’s learned how to master the boards and manipulate his sounds to the point of dangerous. Prismic Tops is weirdness and beauty.
